Is KLEN toothpaste formulated for sensitive teeth?

It is. Most whitening toothpastes today are highly abrasive and have a high RDA value which is one of the leading causes for tooth sensitivity. The RDA value is what measures how abrasive a toothpaste is. Toothpaste with higher RDA values can wear the enamel of the teeth and make them sensitive and can also be damaging to the gums. A low RDA value is anything less than 70 and klen products have a value of 60 due to the use of bentonite clay as our whitening agent which is what makes us unique.

Does your toothpaste prevent/reduce cavities?

Klen products are sweetened with Xylitol which inhibits the growth of the bacteria that cause cavities. Over time with Xylitol use the quality of the bacteria in the mouth changes and fewer and fewer cavity causing bacteria survive on tooth surfaces. Some of our products contain bentonite clay which also has antibacterial properties

What is Fluoride?

Fluoride is a chemical added to prevent cavities by aiding the remineralizing of tooth structure.

Why don’t your products contain Fluoride?

While fluoride can help to prevent cavities, it also has some potentially harmful side effects. There’s a reason all fluoride-containing products come with an FDA warning: According to the Fluoride Action Network, even small amounts of fluoride can cause acute toxicity, characterized by nausea, vomiting, and headaches in its earliest stages.

Too much fluoride can harm developing teeth in young children leading to fluorosis. In order for topical applications of fluoride to be effective, it needs to be put on the teeth after brushing so that the biofilm is removed and fluoride can be absorbed.  We believe that fluoride is effective but should be limited in use. It should only be used as a topical application at your regular dental cleanings or be prescribed by your dentist for specific at home use in more severe cases.

What is CBD?

CBD or Cannabidiol is one of many cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. It is more researched than many of the extracts found in cannabis and has been shown to provide a variety of inflammation-fighting and stress-relieving qualities as well as overall body equilibrium through it’s adaptogenic properties. It is non-psychoactive.

Why is your Mouth Rinse Alcohol Free?

A 2008 study published in the Australian Dental Journal suggests the possible link between alcohol-based mouthwash products and certain oral cancers. Although the study was inconclusive, it drew consumer concern and confusion regarding the safety of alcohol-based mouthwashes. Nonetheless, almost all commercial brand mouthwashes sold in major retail outlets contain significant amounts of alcohol — some as much as 26.9%. While the health risks associated with alcohol-based mouthwashes are not clear, an alcohol and chemical free mouth rinse is less irritating to sensitive gums and tissue, and has proven to be more effective alternative.

Mouthwash containing alcohol is more likely to cause dry mouth which is one of the leading causes of cavities in adults.  Because of this, it also contributes to the problem of bad breath.

What is Halitosis?

Halitosis is the medical term for bad breath. The primary cause of Halitosis is bacteria that live in your mouth and break down food, proteins and even skin cells, leading to the production and release of smelly volatile sulfur compounds (VSCs).  Halitosis is caused by several factors that are often times completely unrelated to each other, which makes it more difficult to treat.
